blogging diarrhea

Is everyone sick of me yet?

Well, tough. Because I'm waiting for Kelly to come home but he is not home yet.
Here's how it usually goes: Kelly usually gets off work at 5, the bus comes at 5:30, and then he is shuttled to his car at the park-n-ride and he comes home at like 6:30 or 7.

Today, however, the bus didn't come until 7. Then that bus's chains were damaged so they had to wait for a replacement bus. So the replacement bus drove until they found another bus stuck on the side of the road and they stopped to save the innocent victims of that bus.
So now at 8, Kelly is finally on his way home. Hopefully. And I'm sitting in his parents' basement, blogging, watching internet TV with the roads too bad for me to go anywhere.

Oh boy.

Blogging Diarrhea.

Nice, Brazil

"Sharing is the nature of creation, it doesn't happen in isolation. No one creates in a vacuum. Everything comes from something else." - Gilberto Gil, Brazil's Minister of Culture

Exactly what I was thinking...

Apparently Brazil has got it goin' on with the creative commons thing. They know how to party.

Blogging Spiral

Not working has made me blog.
But Monday I work again.
We shall see what becomes of my blog.

I have to plan the next 2 weeks in the next 2 days...

Hulu.com stops my productivity but sparks my blogitivity.

Copyright?

I'm watching this interesting documentary about Copyright laws and the mash-up artist Girl Talk. All these things that I'm seeing and hearing...

"Eventually everyone's going to realize that it's beneficial to share ideas..." - Girl Talk
"The past always wants to control the future..." - Manifesto #2 from documentary
"You can't argue your creativity when it's based on other people's stuff..." - Copyright lady
"Intellectual property is the property on somebody's mind. Okay, if I write a song about love, my unique expression about love is my property..." - Rick Cairns, Music industry lobbyist

It all just makes me think of an idea someone planted in my brain once in college:
There are no original ideas.
And I was challenged to disprove that. And I couldn't.
All anything I think has a foundation somewhere from someone else or something else. My brain has just built on it, putting my fingerprint on something that has millions of other fingerprints already all over it.

Intellectual property doesn't make complete sense to me. I get that you don't want me to sing the lyrics to a Metallica song and then say, "I wrote that..." but DUH - no one would believe me. They all know who wrote that. It's just so strange. I can quote someone in a paper as long as I put their words in quotes and say they said it. Why are people getting so crazy about music and movies?
They're suing people in comas, 10 year olds, people on welfare, people on disability... yikes.

Do I sound smart? Or rambly? Because I'm watching this movie still as I write this and I'm not paying much attention to what' I'm writing. Or thinking.

Is it all just vanity? Everyone wanting credit? Is it low self esteem? Everyone needs validation?Tell me I'm smart. Tell me I'm original and unique. Tell me no one else in the whole world could have thought this up but ME!

But here's Girl Talk creating a mashup. Enjoy:

So, are there any original ideas?

Are there?

Things I'm Learning

Did you guys know that Wonder Woman is getting a new outfit?
She's had a lot of makeovers throughout her time. The man who invented her had a strange feminist viewpoint...he believed that women were superior and someday the world will go back to a matriarchal world. And so he drew Wonder Woman with not-so-humongous boobs and gave her a somewhat modest outfit and gave her these creepy bondage weapons that tied up men and made them tell the truth. A truth whip. She came from an Amazonian island where men could not exist. Then one day a man got lost there so she had to take him back to the U.S. and while she was there, she decided she'd give some motivational speeches on women power!...So that's how she began.

And here's where she is today:

As you may have guessed, I just listened to a podcast about female comic book heroes. I learned lots of things during this podcast. First of all: most women in comic books play the victims. The ones that are heroins are usually tortured, killed, de-powered, paralyzed or....who knows what else. Bad things. It's usually not a good fate. It made me think of Watchmen...those girls in that comic book -- they are most definitely victims...
So anyway -- this lady, some lady (I forget), after seeing the Green Lantern comic where his girlfriend is killed and stuffed in a refrigerator, got curious and thought, "hm...women in comics seem to have unusually awful fates..."

...and then she started this webiste:Women In Refrigerators. It looks at all the different fates women have had in comic books. Pretty interesting.

And I also learned that Wonder Woman is getting a new pant suit.

Full Circle.

I'm doing things...

I have 3 more days of no school. I'm wasting it on watching internet tv. Honestly. Like 5 hours a day...what is happening?

I think I should read some books. Or...I don't know...paint a picture?

What should I do?

What books should I read?

Kelly is at work...

Here is what I've done while Kelly was at work today:

1. Went to church
2. Sat in church and thought the whole time, "Waaa, everyone hates me because they put me into primary 2 weeks after I came into the ward. I love Christmas and Jesus is my only friend here..."
3. Taught 6 year olds.
4. Just watched as one boy pulled another boy's chair backward until it folded up and smashed the other boy's finger and he cried. Then said, "It's ok
ay."
5. Brought Mr. Kruger's Christmas for the 6 year olds to watch. It was too quiet and they couldn't hear it, but at least they weren't tackling each other.
6. Came home.
7. Typed in youtube.com and thought, "hmmm...I never did see what Justin Bieber was like before he was famous..."
8. Watched 2 hours of Justin Bieber videos
9. My family called me and I said, why are you calling? A
nd Emily said, "Mom said you're lonely...we're watching the Justin B
ieber videos you posted..."
10. Talked to Emily and mom while watching more internet videos (Bieber, child prodigies, cats...)
11. Took a bath with a candle burning and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia playing...
12. Ate some pickles
13. Folded laundry
14. Ate some Sour Patch Kids
15. Watched all the Parks and Recreation episodes I've already seen.
16. Painted my toe nails
17. Painted my fingernails
18. Took off my fingernail polish
19. Painted my fingernails
20. Texted Kelly
21. And now...looking at blogs and posting.
22. And here are some more wedding pictures that I really like:

They're rare because Kelly thinks all the mush
y pictures are gross to post on blogs and such. Don't tell him! (Kelly, don't look)

perks...

Also, did you know when you're a teacher your students get you presents!? It's like Santa came early!
This is the best job ever.
A girl just walked in and gave me a plate of cookies and treats! TREATS!

This is why people become teachers, I'm sure of it.

Breaking News

So sad. The Provo Tabernacle went up in flames this morning and the roof collapsed. I guess my blog is a news blog now.

I only listen to Christmas music on the way to school and this morning I heard something about it being on fire and I thought, WHAT?! So I had to get to school and look it up for myself. It's true.

Just last year...Kelly and I were skiing. We finished our day of skiing, knowing my family was down in Provo waiting for us. We sped down the freeways and found the smallest parking spot on the tippy-top level of the parking garage. When we walked in the front doors of the tabernacle, they said we weren't allowed in. "But, my mom's in there!" Sorry. So I texted mom and she had to run down from the balcony and get us. I think that's the first time my parents met Kelly. Emily's choir was singing. It was beautiful. I was so excited for everyone to meet Kelly.
And then a year later, Kelly and I are married.
So I guess you could say that tabernacle helped us get married....Well, I guess you could say it but I don't think you'd want to.

Anyway, sad that it's on fire and might have to be demolished. It's sad when things rich with history are gone.

On the bright side, today is my last day of school! Then a 2 week break!
CHRISTMAS!!!
I was supposed to wear a Santa hat to school today (It's Santa hat day) but I don't have one. So I'm just wearing a red sweater and my nice pants and I'll say, "I'm Santa's secretary."
